The Classic 3-Day Route From Marrakech
Distances and timings as driven by our lead guide Hassan since 2014. Add a 4th day for more time at the camp, or extend to 5 days for a one-way crossing to Fes.
Day 1
Pickup at 7 AM. Drive through the High Atlas via the 2,260 m Tizi n’Tichka pass. Stop at Aït Benhaddou — UNESCO since 1987, used in Gladiator and Game of Thrones. Lunch in Ouarzazate. Continue through Skoura’s palmery to your kasbah hotel in the Dades Valley. Sunset over the ‘Monkey Fingers’ rock formations.
Day 2
Morning walk in the 300 m Todra Gorge. Drive through Tinghir’s date palmery and Erfoud (fossil capital of Morocco). Arrive at the dune edge by 4 PM. Mount your camel at 5 PM for the 1-hour sunset trek into Erg Chebbi. Berber dinner, drum circle, sky full of stars.
Day 3
Optional 5:30 AM sunrise camel ride. Breakfast, then drive back via Ouarzazate (‘Morocco’s Hollywood’). Cross the Tichka pass again. Arrive Marrakech around 7 PM. Drop-off at your riad.
